Who we are
AI Recommend helps UK businesses understand how visible they are in AI assistant answers.
Data controller: Kieran Le Butt (sole trader, trading as AI Recommend)
Contact: [email protected]
What data we use to create your report
To produce an AI visibility report for your firm, we use:
- Your public business website – to understand your location, services, and how you describe your firm
- Public business listings – such as Google Business Profile, where available
- Your business email address – to contact you about the report
We do not use any personal data about individuals, only publicly available business information.
Lawful basis
We process business contact data under legitimate interest (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is to help UK businesses understand and improve their visibility in AI assistant answers.
For marketing emails, we contact corporate subscribers (limited companies, LLPs, and public bodies) at their business addresses under legitimate interest (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). PECR permits this without prior consent for corporate subscribers. We do not send unsolicited marketing email to sole traders or ordinary partnerships without their consent. Every email identifies the sender and offers an easy opt-out — reply "stop".
How we log report page views
When you view a report page (URLs starting with /r/), we log:
- Timestamp – when the page was viewed
- Report slug – which report was accessed (an anonymous identifier)
- Country – derived from Cloudflare's edge location, not your IP address
- User agent – your browser and device type
- ASN – the network you are connecting from (e.g., a mobile carrier or ISP)
We do not store your IP address.
This logging helps us understand when reports are viewed and filter out automated bot traffic. It is processed under legitimate interest.
Data retention
We retain report view logs for 12 months, after which they are deleted.
Business contact data (email addresses) is retained until you opt out or ask us to delete it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about your business
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
To exercise these rights, email [email protected].
How to opt out
If you do not want us to contact you:
- Reply to any email from us with "stop"
- Email [email protected] asking to be removed
We will remove your contact details within 7 days.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
